Description

My stab at :icondarkjak:'s Top 10 Video Game Meme [link]

My list is also chronological too.

For the record:

Gunship for the Commodore 64
First game I seriously seriously got too obscessed by, leading to my callsign in it of Cyclone being all/part of my online handle to this day

Bionic Commando for the C64
Friend had PC version, monocrome 286 for the win, but color and smoother game play trumped it every time. The music from this version, especially the first stage tune, still rumbles around in my head to this day

Super Mario Kart of the SNES
Played it endlessly, ultimate party game in either racing or battle mode.

Super Prorobotector for the SNES aka the PAL version of Contra III: The Alien Wars
Loved the style and action of the game, music also still rolls about in my head.

The original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle arcade game
Male boy who loved the Turtles, had a young brother so multi-player was a requirement, and just hit the age when going to the arcade was incredible fun. Still one of the fav games, still love beat 'em ups.

The original Street Fighter II (not championship edition, turbo, super or whatever) arcade machine
Local fish and chip shop machine sucked so many dollar coins it wasn't funny. Kept playing newer variations and other games when I was bored single loner at away at uni, but never had as much fun as with this.

Duke Nukem 3D for the PC
Better than Doom, you can look up! Humor in spades and multi-player was just so much fun. Even played my first online multiplayer (endless teeth pulling back and fourth to organize the direct dial to local friend to link up). Played many other FPS (Doom 1 & 2, Half-Life, Shadow Warrior, Counterstrike, Soldier of Fortune 1 & 2) but never had as much just straight out fun as with the Duke.

MechWarrior 2: Mercenaries for the PC
Big BattleTech fan, BIIIIG. This game combined then incredible graphics of the Clan themed games with the Inner Sphere Merc angle of the first wire-frame MechWarrior game. Perfect combination. Other games to follow drifted, and magic was lost.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
Played the first top-down Grand Theft Auto, or more correctly a 10 minute time limited demo, into the ground. I totally missed GTA3's release until a friend recommended the PC version. WOW. Perfect game, sandbox do anything living world, how could they better it? By adding 80's nostalgia! Vice City just made the concept sing by tapping into my pre-teen childhood. San Andreas and IV were great games, built on the concept, improved it, but generally I instantly switch to the Mp3 station, unlike in Vice City where I listened to the radio stations.

City of Heroes
Long, long dreamed of a superhero sandbox game and this just answered that perfectly (save for paying a month fee to be restricted to less than 15 hours of game play a month due to commitments to work, wife/son ;_;)
